Why you should read this book: This is a shorter volume,
comprising four stand alone stories in the Sandman universe, two of which
figure to varying extents later in the series. “Calliope” is the tale of a
kidnapped muse, “A Dream of a Thousand Cats” is entirely about what cats want, “A
Midsummer Night’s Dream,” offers a nice spin on an old classic, and “Façade” is
a Death story that wonders what becomes of invulnerable superheroes who are
just done with life. Satisfying tales that reframe the real world and the comic
book one.
Why you shouldn’t read this book: You crave continuous arcs.
