When Rosiland's treacherous, usurping uncle banishes her from court, she and her faithful cousin Celia take on assumed disguises and hide out in the forest with their fool, Touchstone. The political situation is severe--Rosiland's father and lover are hiding in the forest too--and the merry Rosiland has fun with everyone in this gender-bending role.
Why you shouldn't read this book: You take biblical commands against women wearing the garb of men very seriously.
